NEW and UPCOMING RELEASE INFORMATION

  • Another new release for your listening pleasure: Butterfly Bones from Florida's Between Existence Records. This is an album of ambient tones, textural samples, and electronic rhythms. Check out the label's site for mp3 samples and ordering info: http://www.betweenexistence.com (from The Ambient Way mailing list)
  • The newest CD from Richard Bone is here!  Spiralight Recordings is thrilled to announce the recent release of The Reality Temples . "My intention was to create a work that blended my love of 60's psychedelia with my previous ambient stylings. I wanted the tracks (and song titles) to reflect a sense of whimsy and mind expansion . My hope is that the music tends to make one put on the headphones and light incense if you get my drift!" - Richard Bone Listen to sound clips and order the CD securely online at our website: www.spiralight.com Next up for release: Freedom Star by Magic Sound Fabric
  • Earnest Woodall's Pictures In Mind has been re-released at CD BABY. "The compositions are lighthearted, and there is just the slightest hint of mischief." Review by Jim Brenholts AMG. GO TO CD BABY FOR FREE SAMPLES (from The Ambient Way mailing list)
  • new cryptic scenery release: cupboard (re-release) the first cryptic scenery tape (from 1995) has been re-released as cd-r on bsbta, featuring two bonus tracks...minimalist to very minimalist and repetitive sound pictures... slow/rapid changes in tone colour...soundtrack-like atmospheres...this release is limited to 30 copies and available via http://www.bsbta.dk and/or http://www.cryptic-scenery.de (from The Ambient Way mailing list)
  • Mount Meru is the newest CD available by Robert Carty and Gerard Geary. This is deep atmospheric space music with some touches of rhythmic grooves. In addition Gerard Geary reads some of his mind expanding "poem stories" over some of the tracks. A unique twist to some ambient music. For more info click on this link
  • Jonthan Hughes' new CD, Fluidities, is out on The Foundry label. His last CD was a winner as far as Bill is concerned, so if you are a fan of ambient music, you can check it out here. The concept behind the recording sounds intriguing to say the least: "This double CD features eleven tracks by Jonathan Hughes and eleven tracks by some of the most prominent names in the electronic music scene today, including Tetsu Inoue, Ian Boddy, High Skies (Mat Jarvis), Saul Stokes, Seofon, Susanne Brokesch, dreamSTATE, Interstitial, Jussi & Jaana Väisänen, Dean Santomieri, and Michael Bentley/eM. By playing the two CDs simultaneously on separate CD players (preferably in random order) one can create dozens of unique composite tracks that are, in effect, virtual collaborations between artists who may have never recorded together."
  • Here is news on two more upcoming release from the brave new label, The Foundry:
    • Egocentric - The Sky Within the Ground (EP) The Foundry is pleased to present the debut release from San Francisco artist Brian Naas working under the name Egocentric. Brian weaves wonderful rhythms, melodic fragments and textural work into five engrossing tracks, familiar and new at once. Look for a September release.
    • Thing Asunder - A Foundry Project This project began with the assembling of a cut-up story. The chapbook was then shared amongst some sound artists and the result is the Thing Asunder CD. Participants include Ben Swire, Earwicker (Seofon and Kimoscio), Steve Brand (formerly Augur), and M. Bentley. We are aiming for an Autumn release.
  • Fans of ethno-tribal ambient music need to sit up and pay attention to this: The launching of the new LotusSpike label has been fiercely ignited by the release of Jeff Kowal's (a.k.a. terra ambient) new CD, The Gate. I've head this already and it is a killer CD, brimming with primal sensual rhythms and earthy melodies on flutes, didgeridoos, and processed textures. Fans of Tuu, Robert Rich, o yuki conjugate and similar artists should absolutely check it out at either Jeff's site or the label's.
