WELCOME OUR NEW REVIEWERS! I'd like to extend a hearty "Welcome!" to our two newest reviewers, Michael Woodhead and Mark Morton. They join Dene Bebbington and Michael Debbage (who have both been with me for some time already) as valued and valuable colleagues. Michael W. will concentrate more on new age music and Mark will be reviewing ambient and EM. Please check out their reviews and drop them a line (via the email link on the CONTACT page) to say "Hello!" THINK YOU CAN CUT IT AS A MUSIC REVIEWER? If you've ever wanted to review ambient or new age music, and you have some skill with words (no need to be the next Lester Bangs, but you do need to know the difference between "their" "there" and "they're"), send me a sample review (between 300 and 500 words) in the genre you would like to review and I'll check you out. Note that all reviewers for Wind and Wire are volunteers. There is no pay for submissions. GENERAL SITE NEWS This being the holiday time of the year, time is particular tight, so the NEWS page will be uploaded later (hopefully sometime this weekend, i.e. December 15-16 or shortly thereafter). Also, the COMING ATTRACTION page is being reevaluated. I am not happy with how it has developed and am considering other possibilities for getting the "early word" out on newly received albums that are not yet ready for a full-review but that I have formed preliminary opinions about already. On the upside, I believe this issue holds more reviews than any previous online issue so far (28 originals plus Brian Bieniowski's reprints from his ambient review site). Speaking of reviews, I will now be flagging some reviews with the term CROSSOVER TITLE. This term will denote an album that holds appeal for both ambient and new age music fans due to its music having characteristics relative to both genres. On a personal note, I hope each and every one of you has a holiday season filled with many good times and surrounded by your loved ones. In today's world, it's important to keep and hold those who are closest to us ever in our hearts and minds. While music is important, it's the people we love and care for, and whom we share our lives with, that fill our hearts with true music. Finally, I hope 2004 brings each of you a "little bit o' heaven" on earth, whatever your notion of it may be. Happy Holidays! Bill |
