First, I wish to extend my thanks to you readers for your patience while this issue was being completed. I dislike skipping a month, but the delay was necessary as everyone was so busy with "real life." In the event that you don't know this already, everyone here at Wind and Wire is a volunteer. This site is, literally, a labor of love for all concerned. We do not accept any advertising or promotional revenue (which means no one gets paid, of course). As a result, sometimes everyday life intrudes. This is why there was no June issue.

Starting after September of this year, Wind and Wire will, unfortunately, be going to an every-other-month format on a semi-pemanent basis. This is because I am taking a leave of absence from reviewing new material and will only be acting as webmaster (a move which is prompted by a development in my personal life). The other reviewers here at Wind and Wire have pledged to do their best in my absence to keep the site current and well-stocked with reviews. Please show your support by emailing them and letting them know you appreciate their efforts.

Speaking of reviewers, two new writers begin contributing to Wind and Wire this issue. Ben Fleury-Steiner will be a familiar name to those who frequent the Hypnos forum, hosted at the Hypnos site. Ben will be reviewing the more asbtract and/or darker side of ambient music. Brian Voerding, whom I met at my day job at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, will be covering both IDM and experimental genres.

I hope you enjoy the issue!

Be safe and do good work.

Bill Binkelman,
founder, editor and webmaster
