NEW AND UPCOMING RELEASE INFO
(note:
CD info comes from
mailing lists and press releases; descriptive comments below
are not from a Wind and Wire reviewer, unless
specifically annotated as such)
- From artist KevOz: "It
has been over 2 years since the release of my debut CD,
Into Orbit. I'm happy to announce that I have 2
new CDs which were just released, Lakefront and
Canvas. Some of the songs on the CDs have an
atmospheric quality that will leave you drifting on
clouds, while others employ a quicker pace, which will
prompt you to dance in your dreams. Please check out my
web site, http://www.KevOz.com,
for more information. From there, you can download free
mp3s and stream all of the new tracks to get a good idea
of what my music is all about."
- Brian McWilliams relates
this update about his solo project under the name aperus:
"Aperus h i n t e r l a n d multimode cd5. After
the release of tumbleweed obfuscated by camera
failure, the original impetus for that project felt
somehow incomplete. Numerous versions of songs in various
tangentental stages of development still remained which,
to me, made a valuable contribution to the whole. Serving
as an outlet for this material, hinterland gathers
these alternate versions together with an additional
enviornmental sketch and presents them in a different
context."
"This limited edition EP
will include a long version of 'Magnetism', an alternate
version of 'Earth & Clay', a different early version
of 'Echo Canyon', the new environmental sketch 'Kaskaskia
Canyon', and a remix of 'Vanishing Terrain'. Sweetening
the deal, this multimode CD will include a gallery of my
favorite photos taken at Chaco Canyon, New Mexico,
additional printer ready prints, and some extra mp3
files. We will be selling these in limited quantities at
a reasonable price."

- From a brand new ambient
artist, Elam Asham, comes this news: "I recently composed
a set of ambient soundscapes, entitled
meditations. This is an entirely original
composition - no samples or loops. I'm originally a
classically trained musician. I've always been a huge fan
of electronic music, and now the two (classical
techniques + electronic forms) are coming together for
me. There are several sample mp3s on my site, my bio,
some pictures, my favorite quotes, links, and more. My

- From a newer ambient
label (and one that has a most promising future, in
Bill's opinion), Spiralight Recordings, comes news of
their latest release: "Spiralight starts 2004 off
right! Our newest CD release is psy-fi by
established artist Zero One. Read what Backroads Music
has to say: 'Psy-Fi - The 3rd Zero One CD appears
on the emerging Spiralight label, and sounds better than
ever. These electro-scientific aural mind excursions tell
wordless stories and draw the listener into an ever
changing world of hypnotic beats & shifting rhythms.
The more we listen, the more we love it! More! More!'

Next up for
release: Ambienism - Volume One. Stay

- One of Bill's favorite
(and highly underrated) new age and electronic music
artists, Vasco Martins, has finished work on yet another
ambitious work: "I have the pleasure to inform the
«final cut » of the 10th symphony, the
simple chant of the sea under the stars, for symphony
orchestra;" Go to Vasco's site for info: http://www.vasco-martins.com
- The first professional
CD by Luis Alberto Naranjo, Total Eclipse, will
soon be available. It will feature" ...synths,
theremin... never you hear something like that!
Electronic music, chill out, simpho... and under the most
important electronic music label of Spain AT-MOOSS

the world). For more info: go to the artist's site:

Here, in the artist's own words, (as the quote above also
was) is more: "Some time that I don t write anything,
since my radio program "Blue Room" finish. Well, I m not
work in radio more but, I dedicate my time in the
composition of my new CD called Total Eclipse" I
am very happy to announce it, in short time, T.E. it will
appear and I want to invite you to my new web
http://www.luisalbertonaranjo.com
where you have more info about it. Best regards from
Spain, Luis Alberto Naranjo"
- Lots of news from
Current, one of the most under-rated electronic music
artists (in Bill's opinion) currently recording. Here you
go: "First of all: Current is working on a compilation CD
with unreleased tracks and it looks like it's going to be
a double CD. Robert [Solheim, who records under the
name 'Current' - ed.] has been going through lots of
tapes and DATs and it will mainly be original versions
except for a couple of "remakes." Release date is not yet
set but probably in May this year. This will include
tracks all the way back to 1989. Second: Current is also
working on the next CD with new material probably to be
released later this year or early next year. This CD will
include several tracks on the subject
of.....Dreams....Third: Current has also started to work
with a friend situated in San Francisco, Michal (aka
eidetaker). They work in the realms of Reason (that
fantastic program from http://www.propellerheads.se ) and
they exchange sounds and visions via the
internet."

- Ambient artist Max
Corbacho has so much going on that I could almost list a
page just for him. Here are some excerpts from a recent
post by him to The Ambient Way mailing list: Now shipping
is his latest CD, Nocturnal Emanations, which
features atmospheric space music. Full details and
soundclips at http://www.maxcorbacho.com/archivos/cds_4.htm#nocturnal.
This CD is released on Space
For Music records
and the artists descibes it as 73+ min long form work
that slowly drift along transparent synthwashes,
developing through silent landscapes in his formation,
almost hostile, sometimes underground, always stony,
ancient. Nocturnal Emanations presents a series of
sound spaces that have his seed in the piece that gives
title to the work. UPCOMING RELEASES: Indalo
(coming in 2004). Details here: http://www.maxcorbacho.com/archivos/cds_4.htm#indalo.
Described as "atmospheric ambient" sound clips and
pre-release reviews are coming soon. Of note is that
Indalo is the first collaborative work between
Bruno
Sanfilippo and
Max Corbacho. A fragment of the track "Indalo", an
exquisite advance appetizer, appears in the new edition
of Margen
Magazine
alongside an exclusive interview with the two artists.
Also coming in 2004 is Moontribe, which will be a
tribal-atmospheric ambient release. More information
soon.
- Ambient artist
Matthew
Florianz
announced several new projects recently: "Sprook
has been offered to Dark Seeds Recordings and will be
released when funds permit. New artwork has been made and
can be seen on the website. The Tone T(h)ree is
scheduled for a June release on H/S Recordings. A new
master will be made that has better levels compared to
the MP3.com DAM cd release a few years back." An as of
yet untitled album is in the works. Nothing much can be
said about it but as soon as I have more material I will
make available audioclips to this list.
- If you haven't yet
discovered the ambient/electronica label Ultimae
Records, you're
missing out on excellent music. Here is some
hot-off-the-press info from them: H.U.V.A. NETWORK [
Distances ] - Ultimae - inre012. When Swedish
artist Solar Fields (Magnus Birgersson) meets French
artist AesDana (Vincent Villuis)...the outcome is
H.U.V.A. Network, a downtempo project where North and
South regions mix and jumble together in a fluid manner.
The pair of sound architects explore ambient-electronica
landscapes and their multiple layouts. The album was
thought out and composed in two studios: - Studio Jupiter
(Göteborg - Sweden) and - Ultimae Studio (Lyon -
France). Musical works and ideas were conceived in this
two creation poles via a few travels and a high speed
internet network connection, thus breaking [
Distances ] which separate the two composers.
6 months of composition, 2 weeks of mixing and a week of
mastering with Huby Sea, were necessary to give form to
this outstanding encounter album. Audio samples available
here: http://www.ultimae.com/releases/frameset.html?skeud=83.
And good news (we hope), waiting for this upcoming
release early March,we offer you to download the
integrality of "Time Circles," composed by Solar Fields
and Aes dana with the participation of Mahiane. 8 minutes
of smooth drift with a hint of "play it again".
