Once again, I wish to express my thanks for your patience in waiting for this issue to come out. I regretted having to cancel the August issue, but there simply was no time to write reviews or work on the issue. Here is the September issue, which is still a bit skimpy in terms of ambient reviews, but that gives me (personally) something to shoot for, doesn't it? There are two interviews I'd like to call to your attention. First up is new age music/adult contemporary music artist John Balint who recently released his second album, Connected (reviewed this issue). Second is Canadian jack-of-all-trades (ambient, new age, jazz, chill-out) artist Dino Pacifici. Both of these fine musicians are artists you should get to know. I'm also introducing something new this issue. Since I usually listen to recordings multiple times before writing a review, I have decided to offer a brief "thumbnail" opinion on music even before the formal review itself appears. Starting with this issue, in the Coming Attractions section, I'll be adding short comments about CDs that will be reviewed in upcoming issues. These "teaser" critiques will hopefully "stand-in" until full reviews of the selected recordings are available. If you haven't checked out the Wind and Wire CD store, you may want to do so. While we don't, as of yet, offer an abundance of titles (at last count, 47), we are the only place on the 'net to offer online ordering of CDs from British artists Soundician (ambient/EM/new age) and Mike Simmons (floating ambient soundscapes), and we have just added some titles from EM artist Crown Invisible, ambient soundsculptor Zero Ohms, and overtone vocalist Gordon Rhyne. As always, I welcome your comments, suggestions, criticisms, and even just "Hello" emails. Have a great month! Bill Binkelman |
